My name is Sora Oshima. I'm a seventeen year old art student, working part time at a restaurant to pay off my father's debt. You see, my family hasn't had it easy. My Grandfather fell gravely ill three summers ago, and my father couldn't earn money fast enough to pay for his health care. So, he turned to the only option he had left: Gambling. Lets just say it wasn't really my father's forte, so he soon ended up gathering a large debt. Two months ago, he'd paid most of it, and only had a very small sum out of the total to pay off. But now my father too has fallen ill, so it's up to me to carry on paying the debt.
It would be paid off a lot quicker if my brother got off his lazy ass and actually did something with his life though. Kurou was three years older than me, and yet he didn't have a job. He just spent most of his time messing around with women. It was just me, him and my little sister Seri now. Our mother left us when Seri was one, that was thirteen years ago. We haven't heard from her since. But to be honest, I'm glad. I don't think I could have forgiven her for walking out on us like that. What kind of woman does that to her own children?

Beep! Beep! Beep! Beep!
Darn that infernal thing. Always waking me up just as my dreams get good. I slowly moved my hand out from under the duvet and pressed the off button on my alarm clock, sitting up in my bed. After having a quick stretch I got out of bed, looking over to see Seri sleeping peacefully in her bed which was just across from mine. A soft smile spread across her cheeks, she looked so happy I almost didn't want to wake her. But she had school today. I made my way across to her and gently shook her by the shoulder. Her eyes fluttered open slowly.
“Morning sleepyhead. Time to get up, you've got school soon.” I smiled. Luckily I only had school on Friday now seeing as I was in my last year, I'd finished most of my exams. I now only had to go in on the days I had lessons left, which was a Friday. Grabbing my work clothes, I headed to the bathroom and got changed. As I looked at myself in the mirror, I couldn't help but be critical of every aspect of my body. I was thin, too thin. My bones were vaguely visible through my skin, and it didn't help that my skin was as pale as snow which made my veins visible too. My hair was long and blonde, it was messy and I could never seem to tame it. Then there were my eyes, pale blue, almost like ice. They made me seem like a cold and cruel person if you judged by appearances. I guess they were the reason I was single.
Quickly shoving that thought out of my head, I tied my hair up into a ponytail and then walked over to my brother's room, banging as loudly as I could on the door. I giggled as I heard his cry of shock, shortly followed by the sound of him falling off his bed and onto the floor. Yeah, my family had it's problems, but I wouldn't change it for the world.
“Sora!” I heard Kurou yell from his room, causing me to run like hell to the kitchen. It was fun making him fall out of bed in the mornings, but it wasn't as much fun being punished by him for doing so. Last time I had the word “idiot” written on my forehead in permanent marker. When I got into the kitchen, Seri was already in there wearing her school uniform. She was about half way through making breakfast. She was far too mature for her age. She was more like a twenty year old than a fourteen year old. I don't know where we'd be without her.
“Morning Seri.” I smiled as I laid the table.
“Morning Sora. I've made you some lunch for work, it's in that box there.” Seri stated, pointing to a plastic box sitting on the table. Seri had made me lunch to take to work ever since I got food poisoning there once. She'd ordered me to take some food from home ever since.
“Thank you Seri.” I smiled, picking up the box and placed it in my bag. After a few minutes, Seri had prepared the breakfast and it was served onto the plates. Kurou joined us literally as soon as all the food had been dished out. I swear he had like a spider sense or something when it came to food. By the time we were all finished eating, it was twenty three minutes past seven, time for us all to be heading out. Well, by all I meant me and Seri. Kurou never really went out anymore. He'd just stay at home and call his lady friend over to have some fun.
It didn't seem like much later I'd dropped Seri off at high school and was on my way to work. The streets were busy, full to the brim with those making their way to work. Everyone was in such a rush, probably trying to catch the train in time, or the bus or some form of transport. Luckily for me, I only had to walk about half an hour from where I lived, if I included the time it took to drop Seri off. If I didn't have to, then it would probably take even less time. It saved a hell of a lot of money, seeing as I didn't have to pay for the travel costs everyday. I guess I was so deep in concentration, focusing on my own thoughts, I wasn't paying attention to my surroundings. Before I knew it I'd bumped into a woman, which caused me to stumble back slightly. My foot was caught on someone else's which resulted in me being tripped over and landing flat on my face. A cry of pain escaped my lips as I made contact with the cold, hard concrete. No one seemed to notice I'd fallen, because soon what must have been dozens of people were walking all over me. I could feel a warm liquid trickle down my forehead. As I tried getting up, a foot made contact with my face at such a force my vision became blurry. I fell back down to the ground, my body starting to become numb. It was only as my eyes started to close I heard the vague sound of someone yelling. Then everything went black.

The first thing that became to clear to me that I was not in my own bed. The bed I was laying on was far too comfortable to be my own. The poor excuse for a bed I had back home was metal, creaky and quite frankly was the reason I woke up with a back ache every morning. This bed, it felt like it had been built for royalty. It was so soft, so warm. It wasn't long later, I could start to hear voices around me, some of them were soft, others were demanding.
“Sir, she's coming round.” One voice stated, a woman's, soft and gentle.
“Leave us.” A second ordered. That voice was a male's, harsh and cold. The sound of a door softly shutting soon hit my ears, and I slowly opened my eyes. Sitting in front of me was a man, a beautiful man. His hair was jet black and his eyes were as green as emeralds. His skin was slightly tanned, suggesting he spent a little time out in the sun. His outfit consisted of a plain white t shirt and a pair of black jeans. I couldn't see what was on his feet.
“How are you feeling?” He asked flatly, like he didn't really care but was obligated to ask.
“Sore. Where am I?” I responded, trying to sit up but as soon as I did he pushed me straight back down. My eyes went wide in shock at his actions. Who did he think he was?!
“You're in my house. My name is Eric Ishida. I noticed you fall earlier today and brought you here to receive medical attention.” He stated in the same tone as before.
“What time is it? I-I need to go to work.” I said, my voice panicked as I tried to sit up a second time, but once again he pushed me back down, refusing me the right to sit.
“It is almost ten to four, so no doubt you've missed most of the work day, meaning it would be pointless in you going back. I called your brother using your phone and told him to pick up your sister. From now on, you're living here, with me.” He stated. I froze in shock. Holy fuck.
